Ceilings: Farewell Popcorn, Hello Beautiful

I have had a recent obsession with ceilings.  So indulge with me for a bit.

Over the last few years designers have put more attention on adding detail to ceilings and I cannot get enough of it.  Now, we are seeing ceiling glam move into new construction, bother residential and commercial.

Gone are the days of textured ceilings (farewell popcorn!).  What was once a boring all white surface has become a work of art, drawing your eye up and often making the room look and feel taller.

Here are a few ways you can add detail to your ceilings.  Or, just enjoy the eye candy and say "Hello Beautiful!"

Planked and Beamed

Add wood planking and beams to highlight any vaulted ceiling or add character to flat surfaces.  Choose your finish to compliment the rest of the home.  Dark, light, and paint are all great options.

Painted and Papered

For something that requires less of a commitment and a lot less work to install, make your ceiling a focal point using paint or wallpaper.

Coffered

Think outside the traditional grid that we have seen in the past.  Coffered ceilings are now a chance to create one-of-a-kind designs to showcase your room.

Exposed

Remove the existing drywall to expose trusses and the inner workings of your home.
